Which Control Panel software do you run?

We run web://cp, an open source Control Panel package that is currently maintained at http://www.web-cp.net.  We believe web://cp's open source code base gives us a tremendous amount of control we could not get from using a proprietary package.  Instead of being at the mercy of a vendor for new features, bug fixes, and security patches, web://cp gives us the ability to extend its framework, add our own features, and fix bugs with no wait.  Web://cp also offers a rich feature set and a simple, easy to us interface.

How do I access my control panel?

Point your web browser to: http://www.your-domain.com/webcp.

What is my username & password?

Your web://cp username and password is the same as the username and password you supplied during account signup.

What are Domain CP and Personal CP?

Your Web://cp is divided into two different control panels: a Domain CP, and a Personal CP.  Domain CP is used to administer your domain, and Personal CP is used to administer the account you are currently logged in under.

How do I create / manage users?

First, switch to your Domain Control Panel by clicking on "Domain CP".

To add a user, click on "User Creation".  Fill out the User Creation form and click "Submit".  Your new user will be available immediately.

To manage users, click on "Users Management".  From here you can delete, suspend, and activate users.  To manage settings for a specific user, click on the username and you will be placed in the Personal CP for that username.  From the Personal CP you can alter all the settings available for that user. For more information see: Managing Your Website with Web://cp

How do I manage email addresses?

From your Personal CP you can set email Aliases, Forwarders, Catch-alls, and Auto-responders by clicking on "E-Mail Settings".

From the Domain CP you can manage Catch-all's and email Aliases by clicking on "E-Mail Management". For more information see: Managing Your Website with Web://cp

How do I setup a sub-domain?

From your Domain CP, click on "Sub Domains & Pointers".  Under the "Subdomains" tab, enter the name of the sub-domain you are adding, then select the Server Side options you would like this sub-domain to have, and click "Apply".  Your sub-domain will be create immediately.  A new folder for this sub-domain will appear in your home directory.  Just like your "www" folder, inside this sub-domain's folder there will be a "web" folder where you put all your public documents. For more information see: Managing Your Website with Web://cp

How do I setup a domain pointer?

From your Domain CP, click on "Sub Domains & Pointers".  Under the "Domain Pointers" tab enter the domain name you are adding and select the target directory where the files for this domain should be stored.  If this is a unique domain you will want to turn off the "Redirect to Domain Name option".  If this domain is a mirror of your existing domain then you will want to leave this option on.  Set the server side options for this domain, then click "Submit" and your domain pointer will be setup immediately. For more information see: Managing Your Website with Web://cp

How do I create / manage databases?

From your Domain CP, click on "Database Management".  To create a MySQL database, enter a database name, set a username and password and click "Create Database".  You should see the new database appear under "MySQL Database Management".  To delete a database, click on the "X" next to the database name. For more information see: Managing Your Website with Web://cp

Once a database has been create from the Control Panel, all other functions of database management, such as table creation and browsing can be done with phpMyAdmin.  To launch phpMyAdmin click on "phpMyAdmin" under the "External Tools" menu and login with the username and password you supplied when you created your database.

What is phpMyAdmin?
